It is the title of the session of the Emmaus prayer meeting last week. This is the first session of the teaching series entitled The Road to Emmaus – Our Journey of Faith. Alas, the prayer meeting really delivered the message. Things didn’t go the way we wanted it to be. It didn’t go well for the service team, for the speaker, for the attendees. These were what happened.

I heard from some of my friends who are having baby right now (you know who you are) that they are going to attend the prayer meeting. Well this made me very excited to attend. At the same time, I had a dinner with my high school friend, so I decided to attend half of the prayer meeting and leaver earlier. I think I really miss the babies (especially Nathan) and their parents. Unfortunately they need to cancel it. It didn’t go the way I wanted it to be.

I think for the first time, there is something wrong with the presentation slide for the songs. There was a technical problem such that the praise and worship was delayed for 20 minutes. It was the first time that the testimony time was moved before the praise and worship, while it was usually after it. I didn’t really know what happened to the worship leader, but if I were him, I definitely became very nervous in order to adapt to the unforeseen situation. Then it turned out, that the praise and worship was very powerful, well at least for me. I didn’t expect such a touching and deep praise and worship could happen especially after this technical issue.

Lastly for the speaker, he also experienced a technical problem due to the slide. Well it was not a big issue, but for him who was giving his first teaching session and there was something wrong with the slide could give extra nervousness.I didn’t really know how he expected the session to be. It was really a touching and deep preaching given by him. Bravo for you bro! Thank you for the preaching!

It turned out that this prayer meeting became a very ‘strong’ session for me that I decided to stay until the end. Let me share with you one of the ‘strong’ stuff. A poem that was shared by the preacher.

You are who you are for a reason.
You’re part of an intricate plan.
You’re a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God’s special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb.
You’re just what He wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones He chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God’s plan in mind,
And they bear the Master’s seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into His likeness you’d grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You’ve been formed by the Master’s rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!

~Russel Kelfer~

For me this is a beautiful poem that gave me a clue for the question that I have been asking. What is the purpose of my life.

It turned out that this prayer meeting really didn’t go the way I thought it would be. When things don’t go the way I want it to be, there is one thing I learn to do, Praise Him.
